UL 1203 is a certification for explosion-proof and dust-proof ignition electrical equipment for use in hazardous (classified) locations. 

These requirements cover explosion-proof and dust-proof ignition electrical equipment, Class 1, Division 1, Groups AB, C, and D, Class Il, Division 1, Groups E, F, and F installed and used in hazardous (classified) locations. G, Complies with National Electrical Code NFPA70. 

These requirements also include explosion-proof electrical equipment installed and used in Class 1, Division 1, IIA, IB, and C hazardous (classified) locations, and dust-proof ignition equipment used in Division 20.21 and 22 locations. 

These requirements also include explosion-proof electrical equipment, which has been studied for use in one or more specific gas or vapor environments with or without other Class I group .

These requirements do not include equipment used in hazardous locations that is specifically covered in a separate standard 2.15 These requirements include equipment used in the following atmospheric conditions: a: a minimum ambient temperature of minus 60 degrees B: an oxygen concentration of not more than 21% by volume C: a nominal atmospheric pressure of one atmosphere.
